Industrial Oval Gear F-Series — Registers & Batch Controllers

Product Overview

The F-series is the advanced register platform for the Industrial Oval Gear meter — one family that covers a backlit display (F012), HART 7.0 (F018), analog-plus-pulse output (F110, which is the ER-420), batch control with two relay or transistor outputs (F131) and a wall-mount remote display (F001), with intrinsically safe variants of the F012, F018, F110 and F131. It accepts coil sine-wave, reed and hall inputs, drives a (0)4–20 mA or 0–10 V analog signal and a scaled pulse, and speaks HART 7.0 or Modbus over RS-485 depending on the member — so a plant can standardize on one register family and pick the member that matches each point. Power comes in battery, 8–30 VDC and 115–230 VAC builds, and it runs −22 to 176°F. When the job is two-stage batching, the F131 controls the dose directly; when it is alarms plus a long-life networked monitor, the ER-500 is worth comparing.

Key Features & Benefits

  • One platform, five jobs — display (F012), HART 7.0 (F018), analog + pulse (F110), batch control (F131) and a wall-mount remote display (F001) all share the same family, so the plant standardizes on one register
  • Two-stage batch control built in — the F131 drives two relay or transistor outputs for a fast / slow dose or fill cycle without a separate batch controller
  • HART or Modbus when the host needs it — the F018 carries HART 7.0 and the F110 RS-485 variants speak Modbus, so the register fits a smart-instrument or fieldbus plant
  • Backlit display reads in poor light — the backlit LCD stays legible in a dim plant room or a panel
  • Intrinsically safe variants for classified areas — IS builds of the F012, F018, F110 and F131 take the register into hazardous areas with ATEX gas-and-dust marking
  • Powered to the install — battery, 8–30 VDC and 115–230 VAC builds cover field, DC and line-powered points

Specifications

Function
The advanced register family for the oval-gear meter — a common platform spanning a backlit display, HART 7.0, analog-plus-pulse, batch control and a wall-mount remote display, with intrinsically safe variants of the F012, F018, F110 and F131
Models
F012 backlit display register; F018 adds HART 7.0; F110 adds analog + pulse output (this is the ER-420, with RS-485 on the F110D / F110E); F131 adds batch control with two relay or two transistor outputs; F001 is a wall-mount remote display with pulse and analog output
Signal inputs
Turbine sine-wave (coil) pick-ups, reed switches, hall-effect sensors and other active or passive pulse sources
Display
Backlit liquid-crystal display of rate and total
Analog output
(0)4–20 mA or 0–10 V DC representing flow rate (F110)
Pulse output
Scaled pulse output
Relay / batch outputs
F131 batch control with two relay or two transistor outputs for two-stage dose / fill control
Communication
HART 7.0 (F018); Modbus via RS232, RS485 or TTL; RS-485 2-wire on the F110D / F110E
Power
8–30 VDC / battery / backlight, or 115–230 VAC, by variant; 24 VDC on the F131D
Hazardous-area rating
The intrinsically safe variants (F012B, F018B, F110B, F131C) carry ATEX intrinsically-safe markings for gas and dust applications
Enclosure
Field-mount register enclosure
Operating temperature
−22 to 176°F (−30 to 80°C)
Mounting
Meter-mounted or remote; the F001 is a wall-mount remote display

Common Applications

  • Two-stage batch and dose control with relay or transistor outputs (F131)
  • HART 7.0 integration into a smart-instrument plant (F018)
  • Scaled analog and pulse output, with optional Modbus / RS-485 (F110)
  • Backlit local rate and total display at the meter (F012)
  • Wall-mounted remote display away from the meter (F001)

Design & Selection Considerations

  • Pick the F-member to the job — choose the F012 when the meter only has to display; the F018 when the host speaks HART 7.0; the F110 (the ER-420) for a scaled 4–20 mA and pulse, with RS-485 on the D / E; and the F131 when the meter has to control a batch with relay or transistor outputs. Use the input form to tell us what the register has to do and we’ll pick the F-member.
  • Name the protocol and the area — HART 7.0 is the F018; Modbus / RS-485 is the F110D / E. Intrinsically safe builds (F012B, F018B, F110B, F131C) carry ATEX gas-and-dust marking but need the right barrier and wiring on your side. Use the input form to tell us the protocol and the area classification and we’ll specify the variant.
  • For alarms and a fieldbus monitor, compare the ER-500 — if the point mainly needs flow alarms plus Modbus and a long battery life, the ER-500 may fit better than an F-series register. Use the input form to tell us whether the job is control, indication or alarming and we’ll point you to the right register.

To size & select the right F-Series register:

Use the input form to tell us the meter it mounts on, the signal you need — a local display, a scaled pulse, a 4–20 mA loop, HART 7.0, Modbus RTU, an alarm contact or batch control — the power source and the area classification, and we’ll match the register or sensor to it.
