Product Overview
The ER-6, ER-9 and ER-420 are RecordALL’s digital resettable registers — the read-out for batching, process and sub-metering points that need a front-panel-resettable total. They step up in capability: the ER-6/R is a battery-powered remote totalizer that simply counts a scaled-pulse input on an 8-digit LCD; the ER-9 adds programmable scale factors so it reads rate and total in engineering units and drives a scaled-pulse output through an isolated relay, meter-mounted or remote (ER-9/R); and the ER-420 (AC, DC or loop-powered) adds a 10-bit 4–20 mA signal with programmable set points proportional to flow, plus a scaled pulse, on a high-intensity reflective LCD. All work with any Badger Meter line that has a compatible pulse output, reset (or lock out the reset) from the front panel, and mount at the meter or wall-mount on a rear adapter plate near the point of use.
Key Features & Benefits
- Front-panel-resettable total — reset (or lock out the reset) from the front panel; the ER-9 and ER-420 also display rate of flow alongside the total
- Pulse or 4–20 mA — the ER-9 drives a scaled pulse through an isolated relay; the ER-420 a 10-bit 4–20 mA loop with programmable set points — plus a scaled pulse — into a PLC, SCADA or recorder
- Scaled to your units — the ER-9 and ER-420 program scale factors to read in your engineering units; the ER-6 totalizes a scaled pulse the meter already supplies
- Battery or line power — lithium-battery ER-6 (5-year life) or ER-9 for no-power sites — the ER-9 battery runs about 6 months alone and backs up a connected DC supply for 5 years; AC, DC or loop-powered ER-420 where a 4–20 mA signal is needed
- Works with any pulse meter — reads any Badger Meter line with a compatible pulse output, meter-mounted or remote on a rear adapter plate
Specifications
- Function
- Digital resettable totalizers (the ER-9 and ER-420 also indicate rate of flow) with a scaled-pulse or 4–20 mA output — the read-out for batching, process and sub-metering points that need a resettable counter
- Type
- ER-6/R remote totalizer (takes a scaled-pulse input); ER-9/R meter-mounted or remote totalizer and rate indicator with a scaled-pulse output; ER-420-AC / DC / LP totalizer and rate indicator with a 4–20 mA output
- Display
- 8-digit numeric LCD on the ER-6 and ER-9 (ER-9 adds a 4-digit rate); a high-intensity reflective 7-digit total / 11-digit accumulated / 7-digit rate LCD on the ER-420. Backlight available on all three (DC supply)
- Output
- Scaled-pulse output via an isolated relay (ER-9); a 10-bit 4–20 mA signal with programmable set points proportional to flow, plus a scaled pulse, on the ER-420
- Resettable
- Yes — front-panel resettable total (reset can be inhibited); the ER-420 also keeps a separate non-resettable accumulated total
- Meter compatibility
- Any Badger Meter line with a compatible pulse output; the ER-6 requires a scaled pulse, while the ER-9 and ER-420 scale the input themselves
- Power
- Single 3V lithium battery on the ER-6 (5-year life); dual 3V lithium on the ER-9 (5-year backup when a DC supply is connected, about 6 months on battery alone); AC (115–230V), DC (24V) or loop-powered (8–30V DC) versions of the ER-420
- Mounting
- ER-6/R remote (wall-mount on the supplied rear adapter plate); ER-9 meter-mounted or ER-9/R remote; ER-420 field / wall-mount or meter-mounted with an adapter
- Temperature rating
- ER-6 / ER-9: 32–140°F (0–60°C); ER-420: −22–178°F (−30–80°C)
- Units of measure
- Programmable engineering units and scale factor (ER-9, ER-420)
- Tamper resistance
- Front-panel reset can be inhibited; ER-9 reprogramming can be locked out and the ER-420 configuration can be passcode-protected
- Serviceability
- NEMA 4X plastic housing (ER-6, ER-9) or IP67 / NEMA 4X enclosure (ER-420); remote versions wall-mount on a rear adapter plate near the point of use
Common Applications
- Batch and fill points that need a resettable counter
- Process and sub-metering read-out with rate and total
- 4–20 mA flow into a PLC, SCADA or chart recorder — ER-420
- Remote panel read-out away from the meter
To size & select the right ER-6 / ER-9 / ER-420:
Use the input form to tell us the meter and what the read-out has to do — a local total, a resettable rate / total counter, a scaled pulse or 4–20 mA into a PLC or SCADA, batch control, or a cellular cloud read — and we’ll match the register, transmitter or controller to it.
