Product Overview
The HR-E LCD is RecordALL’s fully electronic, solid-state encoder — a permanently sealed 9-digit LCD with no moving parts that reads where a mechanical dial fails: pits, vaults and flooded or submerged installs. It bayonet-mounts on any current Disc, Turbo, Compound, Combo or Fire meter and sends an encoded ASCII read to ORION, GALAXY and other approved AMR / AMI endpoints, with on-face and extended-message alarms for reverse flow, a suspected leak, 30-day no usage, tamper and end of battery life. The bare encoder carries the AMI read only; where the meter also has to drive a PLC, SCADA or BMS directly, the HR-LCD Pulse register adds a scaled solid-state pulse and the HR-LCD 4-20 register adds scaled / unscaled pulse plus an isolated 4–20 mA DC signal (see Variants). All three are factory programmed as standard, lift off the meter without disrupting water service, and pair with the HR-RED remote display for hard-to-reach reads.
One platform, three outputs
All three are the same permanently sealed, solid-state HR-E LCD on the standard bayonet mount, fit every current RecordALL meter, and lift off without disrupting water service. They differ in what leaves the register — choose by how the meter has to be read.
- Nine-digit encoded value, industry-standard ASCII on a three-wire synchronous signal (red = clock / power, black = ground, green = data)
- Connects to ORION, GALAXY and other Badger-approved AMR / AMI endpoints
- 20-year (calculated) battery life
- Exceeds AWWA C706 and C707
- Scaled solid-state switch closure (green = positive, black = negative)
- Pulse width programmable 30–100 ms (50 ms default); 30V DC max, 100 mA
- Powered from a 9–50V DC control loop; 10-year battery
- For Disc, Turbo and Compound meters
- Dual-output wiring: a scaled / unscaled solid-state pulse and a two-wire passive 4–20 mA loop, isolated from each other
- 4–20 mA proportional to flow; 20 mA set point per the registration table
- Powered from a 9–50V DC control loop; 10-year battery
- For all current Disc, Turbo, Compound, Combo and Fire Service meters and assemblies
Key Features & Benefits
- Electronic, no moving parts — a fully solid-state, permanently sealed LCD that reads where a mechanical dial cannot, with nothing inside to wear
- Encoded read for AMR / AMI — the encoder sends a 9-digit encoded ASCII read to ORION, GALAXY and other approved endpoints; the Pulse and 4-20 register variants add a PLC / SCADA output (see Variants)
- Built-in alarms — on-face icons and the AMI extended message flag reverse flow, a suspected leak, 30-day no usage, tamper / removal and end of battery life
- Tamper-resistant — a Torx seal screw plus magnetic sensors that detect removal or magnetic tampering and raise an alarm to the reading system
- Fits every meter — the bayonet mount drops onto any current RecordALL Disc, Turbo, Compound, Combo or Fire meter in any of four orientations
- Reads at a distance — pairs with the HR-RED remote display for vaults and hard-to-reach installs, and lifts off without disrupting service
Specifications
- Function
- A fully electronic, solid-state, permanently sealed LCD encoder with no moving parts — the encoded read-out for AMR / AMI. The HR-LCD Pulse and HR-LCD 4-20 register variants add a scaled pulse or a 4–20 mA output (see Variants)
- Type
- Straight-reading, permanently sealed electronic LCD absolute encoder — the HR-E LCD encoder, plus the HR-LCD Pulse (scaled register) and HR-LCD 4-20 (scaled / unscaled register with an isolated 4–20 mA DC signal) variants
- Display
- 9-digit LCD that auto-toggles between 9-digit consumption, 6-digit consumption (with a segmented leak detector), rate of flow and meter model; 7 mm (0.28 in.) numerals. Status icons for normal operation, meter alarm, reverse flow, suspected leak, 30-day no usage and end of battery life
- Output
- HR-E LCD encoder: 9-digit encoded read in industry-standard ASCII over a three-wire synchronous interface to ORION, GALAXY and other approved AMR / AMI endpoints — no pulse or analog output on the encoder. HR-LCD Pulse adds a scaled solid-state switch closure (30–100 ms programmable). HR-LCD 4-20 adds scaled + unscaled pulse plus an isolated 4–20 mA DC signal
- Resettable
- Non-resettable, permanently sealed totalization
- Meter compatibility
- Bayonet-mount compatible with all current RecordALL Disc, Turbo, Compound, Combo and Fire Service meters and assemblies; positions in any of four orientations
- Power
- Encapsulated lithium thionyl chloride AA cell — 20-year calculated life (HR-E encoder); 10-year life (HR-LCD Pulse / 4-20). The register variants also draw from a 9–50V DC control loop for their pulse / analog output
- Mounting
- Bayonet mount on the meter; remote read with the HR-RED display. Lifts off the meter without disrupting water service
- Temperature rating
- Electronics & display −10…60°C (14…140°F); storage −40…60°C (−40…140°F); 0–100% condensing humidity. Encapsulated, weatherproof and UV-resistant for flooded or submerged pit service
- Units of measure
- U.S. gallons, Imperial gallons, cubic feet, cubic meters or liters — factory programmed as standard, with field programming of units, meter type / model and resolution optional via the IR port
- Tamper resistance
- Tamper-resistant Torx seal screw (proprietary tamper-proof screws optional); magnetic sensors detect attempted removal or magnetic tampering and raise a tamper alarm
- Serviceability
- Field-replaceable read-out — swap the encoder with the line in service; the HR-E encoder exceeds AWWA C706 and C707 encoder-register requirements
Common Applications
- Encoded billing / AMI read where a mechanical dial will not do — pit, vault and submerged-pit installs
- Feeding a PLC, SCADA or BMS a scaled pulse (HR-LCD Pulse) or a 4–20 mA signal (HR-LCD 4-20)
- Remote reads via the HR-RED display in vaults or building interiors
- Upgrading a mechanical-register meter to encoded electronic read-out without pulling the meter
To match the right HR-E read-out to your output:
Use the input form to tell us the meter and what the read-out has to do — a local total, a resettable rate / total counter, a scaled pulse or 4–20 mA into a PLC or SCADA, batch control, or a cellular cloud read — and we’ll match the register, transmitter or controller to it.
