Product Overview
The HR-RED is RecordALL’s Model RED remote electronic display — it brings the meter reading to an accessible spot when the meter itself sits in a vault, a pit or a building interior. Connected to a Recordall meter through its RTR transmitter register (or a ModMAG M-Series pulse output or an E-Series Ultrasonic dual-output meter) over an RTR cable up to 75 ft, it shows and increments every digit on an 8-character LCD — 7 digits for the reading plus a system-indicator character — and meets AWWA C706 for direct-reading remote registration. One AA cell gives a 10-year projected battery life; the display wakes on an acoustic tap of the target circle and holds the read for 20 seconds before sleeping. It is field programmable by PIN and tamper-evident, with a TORX seal screw and an open/short tamper indicator, in a weather- and UV-resistant sealed thermoplastic case.
Key Features & Benefits
- Brings the read to where you can see it — a remote LCD you can put at an accessible point — at grade, on a wall, or inside the building — while the meter stays down in the vault or pit
- Tap-to-wake, 10-year battery — an acoustic TAP switch wakes the display for 20 seconds then sleeps; one AA cell gives a 10-year projected battery life
- Reads any RTR-equipped meter — one model reads any Recordall meter with an RTR, ModMAG M-Series with pulse output, or an E-Series Ultrasonic dual-output meter — AWWA C706 remote registration
- Field programmable and tamper-evident — set in the field by tapping a PIN; a TORX seal screw and an open/short tamper indicator (“E” alarm) guard the read
Specifications
- Function
- A battery remote electronic display that gives a visual read where the meter is in a vault, inside a building, or otherwise hard to reach; meets AWWA C706 for direct-reading remote registration
- Encoder compatibility
- RecordALL meters fitted with an RTR transmitter register; ModMAG M-Series meters with pulse output; and E-Series Ultrasonic meters (encoder & scaled/unscaled dual-output version only) — it connects to all RTR transmitter and summator/splitter products
- Display
- LCD, 8 characters, 0.25 in high — 7 digits for the meter reading plus 1 character for system indicators; shows and increments every digit including the sweep-hand position, with a decimal point marking the billing digits
- Activation
- Acoustic “TAP” switch — tap the target circle to wake the display, which holds the reading for 20 seconds then returns to sleep to conserve the battery
- Power
- (1) AA cell battery; 10-year projected battery life
- Mounting
- Remote — mounts on the Badger Meter ROM footprint at an accessible spot; minimum installation space 4.25 × 3.9 × 1.6 in (108 × 99 × 41 mm)
- Enclosure
- High-impact thermoplastic, weather- and UV-resistant; environmentally sealed and encapsulated; tamper indicator (an “E” flags an open or short circuit) and a TORX seal screw
Common Applications
- Remote read for a meter in a vault or pit
- Inside-the-building read where the meter is in a mechanical room
- Hard-to-reach or hazardous meter locations
- Adding a dependable remote read after an old-style generator is replaced with an RTR
To size & select the right HR-RED Remote Display:
Use the input form to tell us the meter and what the read-out has to do — a local total, a resettable rate / total counter, a scaled pulse or 4–20 mA into a PLC or SCADA, batch control, or a cellular cloud read — and we’ll match the register, transmitter or controller to it.
