Product Overview
The Blancett B3100 is the explosion-proof field flow monitor in the Blancett electronics line — it takes the pulse from a Blancett turbine or positive-displacement meter and shows local rate and total in a hazardous area. A die-cast Ex d enclosure (NEMA 4X/7/8/9, IP66/67) carries ATEX, IECEx, FM and CSA c-us explosion-proof approvals to Class I Division 1; it mounts on a 1 in. NPT thread, and in a classified area it goes on an explosion-proof-rated meter with the matching meter-mount kit. It runs on a long-life lithium battery or off the 4–20 mA loop, drives a galvanically isolated loop-powered 4–20 mA output (scalable to any range) and a totalizing pulse output, and logs interval, daily and event data with a real-time clock for unattended sites. Set it up over USB with free PC software, or add Modbus RTU over RS-485 for digital integration. A through-the-glass keypad, LED-backlit display, flow-rate speedometer and 16-point linearization round it out. Where the host needs HART rather than Modbus, the B3150 is the same monitor with integrated HART 7.
Key Features & Benefits
- Explosion-proof field monitor — a flameproof die-cast enclosure rated NEMA 4X, 7, 8 and 9 (IP66/67) puts rate and total right at the meter in a hazardous area
- Battery or loop power — run it on its long-life lithium battery, or off the 4–20 mA loop where the loop carries power
- Analog and pulse out — an isolated, loop-powered 4–20 mA signal (scaled to any range you set) plus a totalizing pulse output feed a control system
- On-board data logging — time-stamped interval, daily and event records survey the site between visits — pulled over USB or Modbus
- USB config, optional Modbus — set it up over USB with free PC software; add Modbus RTU over RS-485 when the host needs digital integration
- Pairs with Blancett meters — reads the pulse from Blancett turbine and positive-displacement meters
Specifications
- Function
- Explosion-proof field flow monitor — turns a Blancett meter’s pulse into local rate and total, with on-board data logging
- Measurements
- Flow rate and total — seven-digit rate/total and an eleven-digit accumulated total, with field-selectable engineering units (volumetric or mass)
- Power
- Battery (long-life lithium, up to ~3 years) or loop-powered (the 4–20 mA loop supplies power, 11–27 V DC)
- Mounting
- Meter-mount on a 1 in. NPT thread; in a hazardous area the monitor mounts on an explosion-proof-rated meter using the matching meter-mount kit
- Outputs
- Loop-powered, galvanically isolated 4–20 mA analog (scalable to any range) and a pulse output for the accumulated total
- Communication
- USB configuration with free PC software; Modbus RTU over RS-485 (Optional)
- Hazardous-area rating
- Explosion-proof — ATEX, IECEx, FM and CSA c-us; Class I Division 1; confirm the exact approval and marking with Badger
- Display
- Through-the-glass keypad; alphanumeric display with LED backlight and a flow-rate speedometer bar graph; 16-point flow-curve linearization
- Meter compatibility
- Blancett turbine and positive-displacement meters — coil, NPN, PNP, reed-switch, NAMUR and active pulse signals
Common Applications
- Secondary oil recovery and water-flood metering at the wellhead
- Remediation, reclamation and environmental-accountability metering
- Aggressive chemical processing, fertilizer and pesticide dispensing
- Hazardous-area field rate and total on an explosion-proof-rated meter
- Unattended sites that log rate and total between visits over USB or Modbus
- Loop-powered 4–20 mA rate into a PLC or DCS
