Product Overview
The EC80 is the flow processor for a Cox turbine meter — a programmable electronic processor that takes the meter’s pulse and computes a fully compensated, linearized flow rate, total and temperature. It tracks viscous and inertial effects with a universal viscosity curve and 16-bit Strouhal–Roshko computation, and reads RF-carrier (4 or 10 Ohm) or TTL pulse on two channels plus a 4-wire RTD. Built-in amplifier and signal conditioning let the pickoff wire straight in, and it puts out a scaled frequency signal, a 4–20 mA / 0–5 V / 0–10 V analog signal and EIA-485 serial. Mount it remote, integral, or embedded in the meter OEM housing; run it blind or add an 8-digit rate-indicator LCD. The blind-integral version is NEMA 4 (IP65) and carries Class 1 Groups C/D, Class 2 Groups E/F/G and Class 3 wet-location ratings for hazardous-area service. The FC-5000 is the step up where the job needs batching, energy / BTU, or a broader protocol and I/O set.
One processor, four standard configurations
Every EC80 is the same compensated processor; the standard configurations differ by mounting, whether a rate-indicator LCD is fitted, and the enclosure rating. The blind-integral version is the one with the hazardous-area rating.

Key Features & Benefits
- Compensated, linearized output — tracks viscous and inertial effects with a universal viscosity curve and 16-bit Strouhal–Roshko computation, so the flow reading holds across changing temperature and viscosity
- Frequency and analog out — dual outputs across two independent channels — a scaled frequency signal and an analog signal (channel one 4–20 mA / 0–5 V / 0–10 V, channel two 0–5 V / 0–10 V) — drop straight into data acquisition or a control system
- Built-in amplifier and signal conditioning — the preamp and signal conditioners are onboard, so the pickoff wires directly to the EC80 with no separate amplifier
- Remote, integral or embedded — mount it on the meter, away from it, or embed it in the meter OEM housing for a close-coupled, fully interchangeable package
- Optional rate indicator — add an 8-digit transmissive LCD for local readout, or run it blind into the control system
- Hazardous-area integral — the blind-integral enclosure carries a hazardous-area rating in a NEMA 4 (IP65) cast-aluminum housing, so the processor mounts right on the meter in a classified area — see the enclosure spec for the rated groups, and confirm the certified configuration with Badger
- EIA-485 serial — reports flow parameters over RS-485 (EIA-485, 115k baud) to a host or the included software
