Product Overview
The Cox FC30 is the compact panel flow computer for a single turbine meter, in gas or liquid service. It linearizes the meter pulse over a 40-point table and applies Strouhal-Roshko viscosity and temperature compensation — folding in the secondary effects a turbine sees, like the meter bore expanding and contracting with temperature — so rate and total hold as conditions change. Pressure and temperature inputs are standard, letting it infer mass from density as well as read volume, and 10 selectable fluid tables — any fluid also user-definable — let a stand switch between media with little setup. Programmable batching with alarms, EIA-232 (RS-232) serial, and isolated analog and pulse outputs round it out, on a 2 × 20 backlit LCD in a NEMA 4 (IP66) panel. Order it together with a Cox meter and Badger sets its factory build to your application; on-site programming and commissioning are available from Prater as an optional, quoted service. When the job needs dual-channel energy / BTU or networked I/O, the FC-5000 is the fuller computer.
Key Features & Benefits
- Gas and liquid — one panel computer for both phases — 40-point linearization with Strouhal-Roshko compensation handles varying process conditions
- Strouhal-Roshko compensation — a temperature input drives a universal viscosity curve and corrects for bore expansion, holding the reading as the fluid warms or cools
- 10 selectable fluid tables — preset fluid properties — water, Skydrol, ethylene-glycol/water, air, JET A-1, diesel and MIL-PRF stocks among them — cut downtime between fluid changes; any fluid is user-definable
- Inferred mass — multiplies volumetric flow by density derived from the temperature and pressure inputs, so the panel reads mass as well as volume
- Batching with alarms — programmable batching routines run a fill from the panel, with low/high-rate, pre-warning and preset alarms on the form-C relays
- EIA-232 serial and isolated outputs — data-log, print or talk to a host PC over RS-232; the isolated analog and pulse outputs keep flow data off the electrical noise floor
- Configured at the factory to your meter — when the FC30 is ordered together with a Cox flow meter, Badger sets its build to your fluid, K-factor and linearization at the factory; on-site programming and commissioning are available from Prater as an optional, quoted service
Specifications
- Function
- A single-channel panel-mount flow computer for gas and liquid — it linearizes and temperature-compensates the pulse from a turbine meter into rate and total, and can infer mass from temperature- and pressure-derived density
- Meter compatibility
- Cox single-rotor turbine meters; the flow input accepts pulse-generating turbine meters, high-level (3–30 V) or low-level magnetic pickoff
- Channels
- Single flow-input channel, plus two auxiliary inputs for temperature, pressure or density
- Linearization
- 40-point linearization table, with Strouhal-Roshko, API 2540 and AGA-7 internal equations
- Temperature compensation
- Strouhal-Roshko viscosity / temperature compensation from a temperature input, applied over a universal viscosity curve (UVC); 10 selectable fluid tables, any fluid user-definable
- Batching
- Programmable batching routines with alarms
- Communication
- EIA-232 (RS-232) serial — data-log, print or communicate with a host PC; isolated 4–20 mA / 0–20 mA analog and isolated open-collector pulse outputs
- Mounting
- Panel mount, 2 × 20-character backlit LCD; NEMA 4 (IP66) panel rating; 110 V AC (85–127 V rms, 50/60 Hz); CE compliant, UL / CUL listed
Common Applications
- Panel-mount rate, total and inferred-mass readout where space is tight
- Gas or liquid metering under varying temperature, where viscosity correction matters
- Multi-fluid stands that switch between preset fluid tables with little downtime
- Local batch dispensing with alarms, run from a control panel
