Blancett B1750 — Positive-Displacement Flow Meter

Product Overview

The Blancett B1750 is Badger Meter’s oval-gear positive-displacement flow meter for fluids across a wide viscosity range. A pair of meshing gears turns as the fluid passes, and a non-intrusive sensor reads one sine-wave pulse per gear tooth — so the meter counts discrete swept volume rather than fluid speed, staying relatively insensitive to viscosity and needing no straight-run piping. Stated accuracy is ±0.5% at ±0.1% repeatability above 100 cP, narrowing to a 10:1 turndown below 30 cP where positive-displacement meters begin to slip, and each meter ships with a NIST-traceable oil calibration and its own unique K-factor. Four models in three bore sizes span 0.003–20 gpm, in a 6061-T6 aluminum (−20…185°F) or 303 stainless (−20…400°F) body good for 5,000 psi, with a Teflon O-ring standard or optional Viton, and the bi-directional output pairs with Blancett monitors, converters and scalers. It is not a turbine — it complements the Blancett axial turbines, taking the lubricants, fuels, chemicals, solvents, oils, greases and DEF that a velocity meter reads poorly.

Key Features & Benefits

  • Reads through viscosity swings — displacement metering is largely insensitive to viscosity, so the reading stays true where rising viscosity would pull a turbine off — and the constant-K-factor band actually widens with thicker fluid
  • No straight run required — because it does not depend on a developed velocity profile, the meter installs with no inlet or outlet piping allowance
  • ±0.5% accuracy — at ±0.1% repeatability for fluids above 100 cP, with a NIST-traceable oil K-factor on every meter
  • Aluminum or stainless build — 6061-T6 aluminum or 303 stainless housing rated to 5,000 psi, with Teflon or Viton seals for chemical compatibility
  • Four models, 0.003–20 gpm — four Female-NPT models in three bore sizes cover micro-flow up to 20 gpm in one meter family
  • Non-intrusive pulse output — the pickup never contacts the fluid; magnetic, pre-amp, Quad-4 and explosion-proof 4–20 mA sensor options support bi-directional flow
  • Pairs with Blancett electronicsB3000 / B2900 / B3100 monitors, the explosion-proof B3150, IFC converters and K-factor scalers complete the loop

Specifications

Measurement principle
Oval-gear positive displacement — the fluid drives two meshing gears and a non-intrusive sensor produces a sine-wave pulse per tooth passage, for direct volumetric measurement that is largely immune to viscosity changes and needs no upstream or downstream straight-run piping.
Accuracy
±0.5% over the published flow range for fluids above 100 cP; held over a 10:1 turndown (from maximum flow) for fluids below 30 cP
Repeatability
±0.1%
Turndown (rangeability)
10:1 (rated). The bi-directional oval-gear chamber reaches an extremely large turndown — up to 400:1 on some models — holding full accuracy at very low flow rates
Frame sizes
Four published models across three bore sizes — 1/4 in. (B175-A12 and -A20), 1/2 in. (-A30) and 3/4 in. (-A60); same set in 303 stainless (-S12…-S60)
Flow range
0.003–0.8 gpm (B175-A12) up to 0.05–20 gpm (B175-A60); 0.01–2 gpm (-A20) and 0.03–7 gpm (-A30) in between
Compatible fluids
Lubricants, fuels, chemicals, solvents, oils and greases — including DEF and viscous, variable-viscosity service
Viscosity handling
Relatively insensitive to viscosity changes; the constant-K-factor range is widest above 100 cP, narrows once fluid drops below 100 cP (slip in the measuring chamber), and below 30 cP holds published linearity across the rated 10:1 band
Process / fluid temperature
6061-T6 aluminum housing −20…185°F (−29…85°C); 303 stainless housing −20…400°F (−29…204°C)
Pressure rating
5,000 psi (345 bar) maximum (both housings)
Housing material
6061-T6 aluminum (standard) or 303 stainless steel; stainless-steel bearings
Seal options
Teflon® O-ring standard; Viton® optional for aggressive-chemical compatibility
End connections
Female NPT — 1/4, 1/2 or 3/4 in., depending on meter size
Sensor / output
Non-intrusive sine-wave pulse, frequency proportional to flow (the pickup is ordered separately). Magnetic, pre-amp and Quad-4 pickups, and an optional 4–20 mA sensor in an explosion-proof housing; bi-directional measurement with appropriate electronics
Compatible monitors & electronics
Blancett flow monitors (B3000, B2900, B3100, or the explosion-proof B3150), IFC intelligent converters and K-factor scalers
Calibration (standard)
NIST-traceable oil calibration with a unique K-factor; custom-fluid calibration available

Common Applications

  • Lubricant, oil and grease measurement where viscosity varies
  • Fuel metering and fuel-consumption monitoring
  • Chemical and solvent injection, dosing and batching
  • DEF metering
  • Low-flow and micro-flow service down to 0.003 gpm
  • Tight-space skid and panel installs with no straight run
For clean, thin, high-flow liquids a Blancett turbine such as the 1100 or QuikSert is usually the better fit; reach for the B1750 when the fluid is viscous or its viscosity varies.

To size & select the right Blancett B1750:

Use the input form to send your fluid and its viscosity, the flow range, line size and accuracy target — with the process temperature, pressure and any chemical-compatibility or hazardous-area need — and we’ll size the bore, pick the housing material, seal and sensor, and set the calibration for your service.
