The fuel yard sets the plant up to fire cleanly — heavy fuel oil has to be held at pumpable viscosity in the tanks and brought up to atomizing temperature ahead of the burners, coal-handling buildings carry classified dust, and both the fuel oil and the fuel gas need to be totalized as they go to the burner header.
