FAQ: instrumentation for pulp & paper
Which flow meter handles pulp stock and fibre-laden streams?
Pulp stock is where ordinary meters foul. A full-bore mag meter — ModMAG M1000 or M2000 — has nothing in the stream to catch fibre and treats pulp stock as a core mag-meter fluid; the Dynasonics DFX reads fibre-laden and aerated streams by Doppler from a clamp-on transducer; and the Preso COIN segmented wedge is the DP element for slurries that foul other primary elements. How do you meter mill steam?
Two ways, depending on the line. The Vortex VN2000 comes as an inline meter or a hot-tap insertion version for large steam mains that must stay live; on the DP side, the Preso Ellipse averaging pitot and Preso venturi tubes cover steam and large process lines. See Vortex and Preso.
Can Prater Technical supply gas detection for the bleach plant and chemical areas?
Yes — the ATi GasSens line is fixed-point detection for toxic and combustible gases in air, and pulp & paper is one of its named application areas. How do you monitor web temperature in the dryer section?

Do you cover pulper drives and mill space heating?
Yes on both. Reuland Electric builds AC wound-rotor (slip-ring) motors for high-inertia process loads like pulpers, using adjustable rotor resistance to manage the starting duty. On the heating side, Indeeco TRIAD unit and area heaters are built for corrosive paper-mill and washdown areas, and Heatrex and Accutherm process-air heater banks serve forced-air drying.
